OVERVIEW:
ITAC Services will introduce Cortland – Plasma 12 Strand Winch Rope for Bed Truck operations, following investigations into conventional steel winch cables commonly used throughout the industry. The investigations found that plasma rope provides a safer, lighter and stronger alternative to steel when coupled with careful maintenance and periodic inspections.

The investigations found that plasma rope provides a safer, lighter and stronger alternative to steel when coupled with careful maintenance and periodic inspections.
ITAC Services believes that plasma rope represents a significant technological breakthrough for high performance Rig Move operations in the Oil and Gas industry, due to its strength and ease of inspection.
INVESTIGATION FINDINGS:
1. There is no Industry requirement for steel winch lines to be retested once installed; the standard practice is for winch lines to stay in use until they fail visual inspection.
2. Winch lines will not be supplied with a working load limit (WLL) due to the way in which it is used. They will however test them to 286kn, which is 40% of its mobile vertical lift.
3. The slings that are the same size as the winch line are only rated to 8.92ton. These slings are used extensively throughout the industry.
